Setting up GOÄ in Clinicminds
GOÄ support is available for clinics working in the German market. This guide explains how to add GOÄ numbers to a treatment and how they appear on the patient invoice. You set up the GOÄ numbers once per treatment, so it is worth doing this carefully for each treatment in your account.

1. Open your treatment settings
Go to Menu → Record settings → Treatments. This is where GOÄ numbers are added.
2. Create or edit a treatment
Set up the treatment as you normally would:
Select the treatment category (for example, Injectables).
Give the treatment a name.
Optionally add a brand, set the units, and choose whether the lot number is obligatory.
Enter the sales price and, if applicable, the tax rate.
Enable track materials if you want to record material usage for the treatment.
3. Add material costs
If you track materials, add the material, enter a description, and set a price for it. This lets the material cost be included in the GOÄ calculation.
4. Enable GOÄ and add your numbers
Tick the GOÄ box. A set of options will appear:
Tick the box next to a GOÄ number to add it.
To find a specific number, type it into the search bar and select it from the results.
To remove a number, click the cross next to it.
Use the add option to include additional numbers at any time.
Note: GOÄ numbers and their sales price are set up once per treatment. They cannot be added as variables or adjusted on the fly during a treatment.
5. Save
Click Save. Repeat this for every treatment that requires GOÄ. The saved treatment shows the brand, unit, lot number, sales price, and the applicable GOÄ numbers.
How the sales price works
The sales price is fixed. The purpose of GOÄ support is to match the individual GOÄ factors and quantities to that fixed sales price, rather than letting the components change the price. You define the price you want once, and the system helps the GOÄ calculation add up to it.
Using GOÄ during a treatment
Open the patient's medical record and go to the Treatment tab.
Select the GOÄ treatment you set up. The lot number is added automatically.
Finalize and close the medical record as usual, then go to the Payment tab.
In the Payment tab you will see the selected treatment, the sales price, and the GOÄ description below it, including the GOÄ numbers, factors, and quantities. You can:
Adjust quantities with the plus and minus buttons.
Adjust factors manually if needed, or use the magic button in the bottom-left corner to let Clinicminds set the factors automatically so the calculation matches the fixed sales price.
Once the calculation adds up to the sales price, continue with the payment (for example, a cash payment) and click Pay.
The invoice
When you open the invoice, it displays all GOÄ numbers, factors, quantities, and amounts. This is included on the invoice sent to the patient.
