Setup Guide: Medical Questions

Add medical history and current medical status questions that must be answered during a consultation.

Written by Pablo

Medical questions capture your patient's medical history and current medical status. A complete picture of the patient's health helps you rule out contra-indications before starting any treatment.

Where to find this setting

Go to menu > record settings > medical state > medical questions. Click an existing question to edit it, or click the plus (+) icon in the top right corner to add a new question.

Question types

When creating a question, choose one of the following types:

  • Header: a section title to group related questions.

  • Description: an explanatory text block, not a question.

  • Text field: a free-text answer.

  • Yes/no button: a simple yes or no answer.

  • Check boxes: multiple options, more than one answer allowed.

  • Radio buttons: multiple options, one answer allowed.

  • Drop down: a list of options in a dropdown menu, one answer allowed.

  • Measurement: a numeric value, for example weight (kg) or height (cm).

Settings per question

  • Question is required to be answered: the patient must answer before continuing.

  • Show 'N/A' as possible answer: adds "not applicable" as an answer option.

  • Explanation: choose Don't allow explanation or Always allow optional explanation, which lets the patient add a free-text note to their answer.

  • Treatment categories: assign the question to every applicable category. The question is only asked for records of the selected treatment categories, so an incomplete assignment means the question can be skipped unintentionally.

  • Sex: ask the question for all sexes, or only for male, female, or other.

  • Age: ask the question for patients of all ages, or limit it to patients younger than a set age, older than a set age, or between two ages.

Click Save to store the question.

How patients answer these questions

When a patient books an appointment, the confirmation email contains a unique secured link. This link takes the patient to the medical questions you configured here, so they can answer them before attending the appointment. Answers are stored in the patient's record.
